The Tacoma Astronomical Society hosts free public viewing sessions each month at Pierce College near Fort Steilacoom. Indoor lectures, demonstrations and workshops are available at public nights regardless of the weather. On nights with clear skies TAS volunteers provide telescopic observations of the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, double stars and more. Each season boasts something new and exciting for our frequent guests. There is no charge for public programs or for observing. However, donations are gladly accepted. The donations are used to further public education and outreach programs. Public night programs are targeted to audiences of diverse ages and knowledge. Our interactive programs include hands-on activities or demonstrations that further illustrate the monthly topic.

Showing July 22-25, The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Maria, a sweet young postulant, proves too high-spirited for the religious life, and she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven troublesome children of a widowed naval Captain. Geocaching

In an effort to bring adventure to my childrens lives, I have begun to get involved in geocahing-a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

Does anyone have any geocahing stories of their own? I need to go buy a GPS, then I'll let you know how it goes....
